MJ is no more... n so is Farrah the Angel

Last Friday, I woke up to the news that an 80s icon, MJ had passed on... It seemed that he died at around 2pm local time, so most Msians only got to know the news when they were on their way to work.

I was also unaware of FF's death which happened some 5 hrs earlier, for we were on our way home from Shah Alam. This is because reception along the N9 stretch of highway was really bad, so we did not bother to tune in to the radio.

Well, I wasn't sad, as just like million others who had given up on MJ due to his eccentricities, but I did feel some hollow, empty pang that told me, "that's it, the last one of the super, mega star of the world is gone". Well, definitely, cos for me, he's basically on the similar pedestal that the world has placed the Beatles, Elvis, Lady Di, and JFK on. Thus, I truly believe he's the last of them. In fact, some even say that he's the biggest of them all- esp with MTv's help, of course.

Who else? nobody, in the past 20 years can come even a close second. The Beckhams? no, they don't appeal world wide. Britney? Whoa, no way, babe. So, it was no wonder that all the radio n Tv stations immediately aired their tributes and programmes to such a monumental figure... his album sales, "Thriller", topped some 60 m sales world wide. I was a dewy-eyed 13 year-old teen back then, had also bought tapes of fav songs of the Grammys- like songs by Bonnie Tyler, Cyndi Lauper, Boy george, n of course, HIM. Billie Jean n Beat It n Thriller were of course mega hits in those days.

My son, after watching his fluid movements was immediately smitten with his moonwalk, claiming that his limbs must be made of jelly, with no bones at all.

Well, we're gonna all miss u, Wacko Jacko. Some later reports did claim that he had embraced Islam, so we'll just wait & see as to what happens in the coming few days... and the exact reason why he had cardiac arrest- similar to that of Elvis and Ledger, maybe?

The world's waiting.

A penny for your thoughts...

But when you do give it, you're giving your two cents! Ha, who pockets the one cent then?

Just like kids... we put in a ringgit, then we'll get back 2! Put in 1k, will we get 2k? You bet!

I always believe in getting more than all the effort you put in... macam pepatah Melayu...berbudi pada tanah! Islam pun, kalau buat baik, beramal ibadat, pahalanya memang berganda!

So, I'm gonna be good from now on, and teach my kids to do the same!

I am a woman... & proud of it!

Got this beautiful message from my beautiful friend, Zila...

What makes me weak? My fears.....
What makes me whole? My God.
What keeps me standing? My faith.
What makes me compassionate? My selflessness.
What makes me honest? My integrity.
What sustains my mind? My quest for knowledge.
What teaches me all lessons? My mistakes.
What lift's my head high? My pride, not arrogance.
What if I can't go on? Not an option.
What makes me victorious? My courage to climb.
What makes me competent? My confidence .
What makes me sensual? My insatiable essence.
What makes me beautiful? My everything.
What makes me a woman? My heart .
Who says I need love? I do.
What empowers me? My God & Me.
Who am I? I AM A PROUD STRONG WOMAN!

And I'd like to add to that...

Who makes me feel complete? My husband...
Who keeps me remember who I am? My parents...
Who makes my day, everyday? My children, of course!!!

UiTM, OUM

Phew! I got 2B+ and 1 A- for my subjects last term... not bad for someone who almost couldn't complete her assignments and term papers... I'm just terribly glad I didn't get 2Bs when that was what I truly expected I deserved! Anyway, thanks so much to the affable Dr Burn, "exquisite" Prof Haz and "way-too-cool" Dr Shireena! And now I'm crossing my fingers for Dr. Shukor aka Cat-Crusader next term!

As for OUM, tomorrow is my 3rd tutorial... hm, I'd better get some sleep for the trip home tomorrow. i'm now in Bangi as Aduk had fetched us earlier, and we'd be hitching a ride from Cik Ogy tomorrow.

Talking of Cik Ogy, she just got back from Beijing on the 10th, after almost 3 weeks of work-and-play. So she bought for me (kirim da...) a gorgeous pink Chinese silk for only RM115, which is around 300 here. Then there's the pearl bracelet that only cost RM15. Mummy chose a black-and-white striped one, it looked so elegant, with the red roses standing out as if they were alive!

Hm, I'd better sign off now. I really must check my new year's resolution again - I think that time management/prioritizing happens to be top of the list! And I'm much sleep-deprived now!

PD June 1 09

After sending my parents, brother and Atok off at KLIA, we left for PD. Boy n his family joined us as well. At the beach, all was fine, the boys quickly dipped their feet into the sea... of course, none dared to venture far, and my girls were screaming both in delight and fear at the oncoming waves.

I was watching them from a nearby set of steps, with Tine next to me, and Naufal behind us. boy was looking for something to munch. After some time, I got up to take pictures of Ayum, Im, Adam, and Naufal soplashing water about. Aisyah n Nisa were with the Papa in the water. Abot 5 mins later, when I looked around, Tine mouthed to me, "Naufal mana?" Oh my God! Panic set in us. Tine, abang, Ayum and me went around searching for him. I even roped in the help of a few nearby beachgoers to help seek him out. Luckily, he didn't venture too far, Tine found him playing with some sad about 100m away. Gosh, what a scare!

So we left for home around 615, my family for Melaka, and Boy for JB. Alhamdulillah nothing untoward happened, except for the fright Naufal gave us that evening. from now on, we'll really, really watch them kids closely!!!

late nite posting

I could not sign in to blogger these past few weeks - so there were quite much that had taken place!

Pa & Ma went for their umrah with Tok & Uda, and had been back on Msian soil for some 5 days... they were so happy, n now planning to go again, soon. So, as the usual for those coming back from the Holy land, there were kurma (yum, yum), nuts, air zam-zam, and souvenirs such as jubah and ketayap... my girls grinned from ear to ear when they received their necklace.

Anyway, what happened during the time we sent them off is worthy of mention here. Knowing that the grandparents were going on a plane, our darling Nisa kept asking about when they were getting on the plane. However, once she could no longer wave to them, she then pestered us - "Bila kita nak naik kapal terbang?" We laughed, and told her gently that we won't be going on the plane that day. Then, we went to pay the parking fee, using the token, as usual.

In the car, she sat subdued for some moments. Then suddenly, she piped up, "Kenapa kita tak naik kapal terbang ni?" We again told her that we won't be getting on one. However, she looked puzzled, and asked us, "tapi kita dah beli tiket tadi?" We laughed out loud, as it was funny to discover that the clever young mind was confused, as she thought that the parking fee we paid was for a plane ticket! Hm, if it were that easy...!
