Semester's over!!!

Ok, I've submitted my assignments (except the Folio for Dr Burn!) But I'm sooooooooo glad!!! I can really take a breather for almost 3 months!!!

The ones I've lost...

Well, the meeting with friends yesterday made me thought about friends and family members that I've lost over the years...

There were some I knew closely, there were those that we re not so close, but still, I remember them well...

first family members... I was still in primary school when my Tok Nyang Tangkak passed away- I think that's the one I remember earliest... then, there was Tok Teh Ali, when I was in form Four (I remember, cos Pak Man was waiting for his SPM results then). Later, I lost my nek Yang Tangkak, when we were in Kulim. We got the news not long after our last visit to Melaka, n we did go visit her then.

In 2000, Busu Selan, Mak's youngest brother died in a bike accident... A year and a half later, Busu anak Mak Ngah also succumbed to a heart ailment... And then, in 2003, Tok Na passed away - I was still pregnant with Aisyah, I think. I remember getting the call at 6 am, I knew something must be wrong the moment I saw Papa's number flashing on my hp screen...

On Jan 3, 2006, my beloved Tok Nit left us... I cried buckets... this time, I was pregnant with baby, she was only 2 months away from being born... but Atok left us anyway... Two months later, we lost Tok Chu Budin... and then, in 2007, August 13, to be exact, arwah Edi died in a bus accident - the worst crash Msia ever witnessed...
Gosh, the pain we had to bear...

As for friends, there were quite a few... the first one was arwah Eiza, who died at the tender age of 18... I was in university.. gosh, she should have been with us! Then, a friend doing the TESL Matric also died... years later, I heard about kak Thuaibah who lost the battle to brain tumor while pregnant with her 1st child... so sad! And then, there was the dewan makan abang Mus (I think) who was electrocuted in the kitchen... later, after graduating, we lost the affable Uncle Chan, Azwa, and of course, Suhaimi - due to lightning at Pdg Merbok... And I also got news about arwah Ahmad Safri, who drowned in Labuan..

There were also teachers - Cikgu Bidin (quite some time ago, in 1995 if I'm not mistaken), and Cikgu Nordin, just 2 ramadhans past. And I've also lost a student - a Yemeni boy, Ali Ayash, who died in an accident on hiw way to the airport... he left behind two beautiful kids... life can be cruel at times... though he wasn't that close to me, I still remember him, for he could be quite talkative at times with Marwan n Mehdi...

and neighbours... arwah Cik Jariah died in 2003, then Pakcik Harun passed away 2 years ago... there were also a few before them - Cikgu Haron, isteri ustaz Sulaiman, Cikgu Rahmat, Mak jah (isteri Cikgu Daud), Ustazah Jamilah, and just last month, Ustazah Jamilah's husband, Ustaz Mahmud, who taught me mengaji, also passed away... Then, in Chinchin, I remember the dear old couple next door, arwah Nyang Wak n Nyang Be... And of course, there were countless other relatives - Mak Teh's hubby, the siblings of my grandparents... in fact, last year, one of Tok Nit's anak buah sepupu, Mak Ngah Dahlia, was killed by a burglar... sad, sad time!

Gosh, quite a number of people that I know who are no longer around... I always have them close to my heart... you are always in my doa. Nowadays, I really pray that Allah yang Maha Pengasih & Pengasihani would still lend me my parents for a few more years to come, and not take away the young ones... Amin.

Dwen is home

Ok, for the first time, my venturing into an unknown territory did not end up with me getting lost! Ha,ha, all for Dwen, I guess... So, it was fun!

Who were there? When I arrived at 2.30, there were Aida, Chris, Dwen & Zeff. So, talked we did over coffee, sate, & all kinds of delicious morsel that I could stuff down! Phew, delicious food!

Anyway, the chat was even more delicious... we went back 16 - 22 years as if they were just yesterday... Dwen was the most accurate one, I think... til at one point Jeff said, "hey, you're in a time machine or what?" Yeah, there were some blank stares when we couldn't remember names & all that... Edwin, Rosli, popped up often, and other names rattled off us... we even remembered a few that had moved on... Azwa, Dr. Jamali (our beloved Homer) and even Noraini, whom we lost during our Matriculation days... Sad moments there - made me think for a while on how people might remember me when I'm no longer around... wonderful mom, hardworking perosn, ahah!

Then we talked about the married stuff... Aida n the geng who got married while studying - her eldest is now 16, whoa! Me n Lise's eldest are 12... while Dwan's, Chris n Jeff's eldest are all 8! But of course, the laughs we had!

And then, around 3.40, Lise finally turned up, with her Miss five in tow... Adlina, I think... and more yak... Dwen even claimed 'I've been here since 1, I think I'm glued to my seat!" til 5, that is... then only we grumbled that we had to leave... n of course, with promises that we'd meet up soon! That would be in August, I think... hopefully Aboy would make good his word about organising the do...

Ok, anyway, it was good to meet up with friends that I really care about... we meet now n then, even with Dwen being far away in Oz land, he still makes it a point to see some of us - just like what he said, "Show some eddort"...

Emceeing job

Last Thursday, the new Dep Minister of Human Resources, Dato' Maznah Mazlan, came to ADTEC. It was for the penyampaian Anugerah Pertandingan Industri, Inovasi & Kreativiti sempena Ma'al Hijrah.

And, I had to MC the event- ni Rohani la ni...

Together, with Hasbalah, we pulled it off, and was congratulated by many- even the boss said very good! Alhamdulillah...
