Goodbye Su...

Yesterday, I received an sms from kak Bedah, telling me that Su was in a coma at the KLGH. Gosh, so bad of me, I had almost forgotten about her. I meant to ask her husband, Kamal of her well-being 2 months back, when I was at MPH SACC, but he wasn't around...

And about 5mins ago, I received the dreaded text, telling me that she is no more... Goodbye dear girl, moga Allah mencucuri rahmat ke atas rohmu... I will always remember your sweet nature...

Aisyah's birthday

the 6-year-old

Hm... well, this is bad... that's how far I can go as expressing myself in my mother tongue! Ok, I'll code-switch all the way!!!

After flipping through the photos in the album, I decided on the princess in pink cake. After paying the RM70 price, I left to pick up the girls at their Ibu's house. And I was thinking, that's quite at steal, at RM70! However, not a minute into my happy mood, the bubble burst! The girl from the bakery called, telling me that the price I paid was for the sponge cake. So, I had to fork another RM20 for the Am choc cake I wanted. Hm, I thot, still, it's quite cheap... ok, I agreed, anything for my darling girl...

such a pretty cake!

Thus, on Sunday, after tidying up the house, we took off for Sharmini's open day at Bukit katil. not that difficult to find, as long as there's the add! It's a nice cosy home, the semi-D, esp her yard... hm... tapi itulah, lupa ambil gambar!!! It turned out we arrived quite early, as I honestly thot the mail said 11-6, turned out 1-6! Anyway, I helped her cut up the ketupats & arranged the food stuff. At 1, the bakery called, reminding me about the cake. Thus, we left around 1.20, and reached the bakery at almost 2. The ecstatic look on my kids' faces was worth the RM90 and the hassle it took for me to get the cake. They were all googling at the pretty cake..

princess of the day...

So, the jamuan started at 5, with just Tasha the cousin, and a number of 2nd cousins on Abah's side joining in... Hm, anyway, their happy faces were all that matters....

Tasha, Aisyah & Nisa

abang tucking in heartily...

the ecstatic sis - now she keeps asking -
bila mummy nak beli kek princess baby?

I am 40

Semalam, pada 8 Syawal 1430 hijrah bersamaan 27 September 2009, aku sah berusia 40 tahun... ramai rakan2 di Facebook mengucapkan selamat harijadi, bermula dengan Anom seawal pagi lagi, diikuti Afiq dan Pak Man. Kemudian, yang lain2 menyusul, Amoi, Bob, Ize, Dwan, Cik Mi, Ida, Tie Radio, dan ramai lagi... Di Geni.com, aunt Eve, Pak Rain, abang Din... hm, terasa disayangi...

Di rumah, Papa dah ucap selamat seawal Subuh, kemudian Ayum & Ayang. Aduk kena remind pulak... Uda ada sms, tp Boy lupa pulak, sampai kena remind... Petangnya, ada masak kat rumah, potong kek - Choc Lady...sedap! Berpusing2 jugak cari, sebab American Choc di Batu Berendam dah habis... next year, confirm mesti beli Secret Recipe!

Raya celebration pulak, mcm biasa.. terkejar ke sana sini, dapatlah jugak tidur Jasin n rumah sendiri... tahun ni tak sempat buat kuih byk, dpt tart, choc chip & choco cornflakes aje... tp kuih boleh tahan byknya, sebab tempah dr Yah Violet Tart, beli dr Pijoy Mamar Keri, then beli di Mydin 2 jenis, kek lapis & makmur dr Boy... oklah jugak, yg lain2 adalah maruku, kacang, kerepek bawang...

Duit raya anak2 pun, ok jugak, Alhamdulillah... dah simpan pun sikit di Tabung Haji.. RM210 in total... Altogether, nak kata banyak tu taklah, tapi rasanya dalam RM400++.

28 Ramadhan 1430

Just another 1 day to go before Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid. And how am I? Hmm... unsure. I have no problems with expenses this year, all my needs are met. But I'm feeling the blues...

Even got a new set of Carlo Rino handbag, after being content with cheap ones for a number of years... In fact, for the past three nites, we've been going to the malls to get some last-minute stuff. The first night, it was at Parkson & Jusco, the second nite, it was Mydin, and last nite, it was back to Jusco. This year, also, marks the first time that abang chooses most of his own stuff - shoes, slippers, songket, songkok, etc. The baju Melayu was my choice though, as I wanted to get his the same as his dad's. I got them at Hari2 in Sek 18. As for the girls' baju kurung, I got them at Mydin USJ- that was also the time I got stuck in a jam for some 40 mins. As for my own baju kurung, a set was bought in Tampin, while another was tailor-made by Ila's friend. Meanwhile, my shoes are Sachs, bought in Parkson Melaka Mall. Tudung, I bought them at Anggerik Mall. Then, I also got a nice Bonia T for Papa and a Batik-style shirt for my Atok (my tradition with them). So, everthing all set for raya!

But we don't feel good this year...With my hubby's Indonesian workers still detained by the police, we really are so down... after getting the news from papa yesterday that their would be detained til the 23, my mood really dipped. Tears dropped while I was driving, I really don't know why the police insist that they be remanded, as we all thought that they would be released yesterday. I really hope that nothing untoward other than their remand would happen in the coming week.

On the national level, I really hope that not many deaths would take place this year. Really, really hope that things will go well... Amin

25 Ramdhan 1430

Gosh, how time flies.. Before you know it, it's almost raya! And my son has completed his UPSR exams last Thursday! i pray that he'd do well. According to him, he had made 3,4,5,6 errors in his MCQ papers for BM, English, Science & Maths. Well, what's done is done! He's now back with us in Melaka, and will not be attending school til after Raya. I've informed the school, and the class teacher says it's ok. Papa & Mummu are already in Jasin now...

Today is payday, am I'm quite glad that my July's pay is somewhat paid this month, so, I got some extra 800++ to spend on... anyway, I've done most of the buying, with the girls attire all complete down to the shoes & pajamas, but Ayum still has a few stuff to get, like his shoes, sampin & songkok. Though I hate last-minute hassles, but with all the traelling that I have to do every week, I definitely got no time for shopping.

And dear hubby? Hmm, even more hectic. But there's some shocking news to share - his Indonesian workers, Muh, Bapak n the gang (all six of them) were rounded up by the police as robbery suspects last Saturday nite. We hope that they'd all be released by tomorrow. Pity them!

And, another heart-beraking news is that Ila has miscarried for the second time. we got the news last Saturday, and Papa n Mummy were quite sad with the news, hence the stopover at Bangi on Sunday on our way back to Malacca. Tak ada rezeki lagi... I really hope that they'll be okay next time!

Time for class now!!!

12 Ramadhan

Life is quite hectic for me these days.... I have classes til the evenings everyday, be it at uniKL or UiTM. Even during the holy month of Ramadhan, I still have classes, and we have to break our fast during classes. So far, Dr. Normah, Dr Zee and Dr Nabila are very kind and accommodating to us, with Dr. Zee even postponing the test last week. But wait, that's tomorrow, and I still haven't finished studying, hahaha!!!

Hm, as usual, I'm guily of negelcting the blog... but as I've been quite busy, even FB is now neglected.. well what to do, it's somewhat blocked by UniKL...

Anyway, last Friday, I went to a reflexology session at my fav Beijing centre in Seksyen 13, Shah Alam. Emily, my fav therapist, somehow discovered that my heart may be having problems. So, what I did was, I went to buy B'Young, and have started taking it since last Friday. Gosh, it was quite a torture for me in the first couple of days, as my bladders became very "runny", I couldn't stop rushing to the loo to relieve myself... Today is already the 6th day of my BYoung course, and I'm beginning to feel its effects... high energy, no fatigue... best of all, I feel healthy!!! And I wake up every morn from my slumber without any lethargy that used to dog me every morn b4... So refreshed, as my sleep was fit and restful!

Ok, gotta go, I have class at 1pm with a class of 9 kids!!!!

Week 4 MICET

I'm getting the hang of things around the place... now I can be quite good at using the many gadgets at the communication lab, and has gotten an access key as well. My students are a decent lot, many would laugh along when I crack jokes... and some are very well-mannered, like a few girls who would salam me before going back. As for colleagues, yeah, they're ok as well, some laugh here n there... I've met the dean last week, on Wednesday, just before I left for Shah Alam.

I also got to meet up with some friends last weekend, on Saturday, at Eq Bangi. I arrived a bit late, for I thot that since it was hi-tea, it would only start at 2, but they've actually began at 12. Hm, anyway, we yak, yak, til we were told that we had to leave at around 5.30. Still, we lingered on at the lobby to take photos... and they're all on the FB!

So, who were there? let's see... at my table, there were Anom, abg Man (we've always called him that, for he was the 'elderly' type), Ida, Tie Radio, Aboy, Fairuz, and later, Lan. At the other table, the 3rd & 4th collegians, were Bob, Marina, Anasan, Chris, Aida, Amoi, Salmi, Jash, Jeff & Zainal... hm, and the surprise addition was kak Gie/Dr. Fauziah!!! So, there 19 merry-makers making a thunderous noise.. bising bangat gitu!!! And we were also joined by a few spouses - Azah (Man's), Aboy's wife, Fairuz' wife n Amoi's cute-as-a college boy hubby. And of course, Jeff could easily pass off as a 25-year-old new grad. The rest... haha, many have gained weight here n there... but the spirit was still definitely the same!!!

Oh, btw, good news from Mama (Dila), as she is now expecting her 3rd baby... as she was saying on FB, "I have a bun in the oven... after 10 years, I thought the bakery is closed"... to which Tie Radio replied, "Carilah bakery lain!" haha, how 'blur' can she be? But of course, a lot of teasing followed made us laughed real hard!!!

And today, I'm feeling a bit under the weather, as I think that I've caught a bit of cold bug from abang- he was down with fever since Sunday, after we left, and is not at school again today. But his fever is down, and hopefully he'd be back to his old self tomorrow.

Hm, I really need to update my blog more often now... I seem to have missed a lot of stuff of late. As today, Malaysia has recorded 32 H1N1-related deaths, and is inching closer to it's 2000th case. It sure is indeed scary, and last week, one staff at ILPKL died due to the infection. Innalillah. As for UiTM & UniKL, things appear to be back to normal, after the 1-week closure, and I really hope that no family member /close friends would come down with it. Amin

working away from office

Awana Genting, 30 July 2009 - I have only been an employer of UniKL MICET Alor Gajah, Melaka for 10 days, and is now attending the induction course at one of Genting Highlands' premier resorts.

There will be around 60 other newly-recruited staff of UniKL converging at the resort for the course, that will centre mainly on introducing the staff to the group's objectives and visions. I truly hope that I will be truly refreshed and rejuvenated by the experience!

Okay, enuff about the above formalities.... on to my actual news - we arrived (the four of us - Yanti, Azia and Nadia the driver and owner of the 5-month old Saga) at Awana around 3.20. Yanti and me were assigned room 2517, which turned out to be a cute, well-equipped studio apartment.

But the hardest part is my being away from the kids- we've been on the phone three times since I arrived, and I even called Ayum in Shah Alam twice, Miss him the most, as I don't get to see him this weekend. But we'll be there next Wednesday.

As for UniKL, the students were sent home yesterday, as the scare for H1N1 escalates. In the first place, it was supposed to be total shutdown, but as the evening progressed, the president decided that the office would remain open... and I only got the call at 9.25 from Saadiah telling me that the campus is to remain open... haha, hm, since I haven't finished packing, I had to rush home from my roti canai breakfast, and only reached UniKL at 11.30... and left at 12.10 for Genting! We made a stop at the Seremban R&R for lunch & prayers...

I just got back from supper where I dined on Cajun Chicken with Pita - hm, it was great! The teh tarik alone cost RM5... the whole dinner cost me RM24++. B4 going up, we stopped at the bakery which sold cakes for 50% the price after 9.30pm. Hm, got a strawberry & marble cheese cake... have tried the Strawberry cheese slice, quite yummy... hope that the marble in the fridge will be even yummier...

K, gotta hit the sack tomorrow... really looking forward to a wonderful experience!!!

Dari Shah Alam ke Alor Gajah

Starting last Tuesday, I am now an employee of UniKL - MICET, the Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bio Engineering Technology. Which means, I am moving back to Melaka!

On the first day, it rained heavily, so I arrived a little late - not a good impression for a new employee - but then, I went back at 7 as that was the time my class ended. Got an office to myself - have to 'tumpang' the library for the time being, though...

However, I still need to travel to and fro Shah Alam for my M.Ed TESL classes. Thus, every Wed, Thur and Friday afternoons , I have to travel to UiTM. I'd drive back to Melaka in the morn, just on time to reach my class in the morn ( I have to be in by 10am).

The first week, so far, so good, except for the fact that I couldn't attend my Thursday class (Dr. Zee's) as I haven't rescheduled my class at UniKL. Turned out, even my Bac C students were not around, as they had only registered a day earlier... hmph, took the time to finish my presentation for Dr. Nabilah's class! And, this week, I've indeed completed 2 presentations...

On Friday, I arrived quite early, headed for the CC at Sek 2, photocopied at Nabil's next door, and made it to class at around 6.25! Only to find out that next week's classes are postponed due to the H1N1 (swine flu) scare! So far, UiTM Shah Alam is the fifth UiTM campus to be closed down, with Melaka taking the honor of being the first one, followed by Sri iskandar, Dungun, &
SP... well, at least I could take a breather for a week...

But then, we still need to travel the weekand as my darling boy Aiyum is still here til he finishes his UPSR... he's atok's darling for the moment!

So, I'm getting ready to go back to Melaka soon, all packed up, but waiting for my darling boy to finish his Maths exercises... I hope that it'll be a safe journey... Amin!

A sad week for Malaysia

Last week, the whole of Malaysia was stunned to discover that a political secretary of a Selangor exco, Teoh Beng Hock, 30, was found dead at Plaza Masalam - a mere 3 min drive from my home. The shocking part was that, he was found sprawled 9 floors beneath the office of SPRM while under their 'custody'. It was indeed mysterious as he was supposed to be registering his marriage to his fiancee the following day.

Hence, Malaysians from all walks of life denounced the irresponsible statements made by some government officers and ministers, such as the one issued by Nazri. Hm, some people can be so inconsiderate!

And this morn, Malaysians wake up to another huge loss- that of Yasmin Ahmad, the mega-talented director of so many 1Malaysian-themed movies - Sepet, Gubra, Mokhsin, Talentime, and of course, the various hilarious, heart-rending Petronas movies come raya & national day time. Seriously, the Msian film scene would never be the same again!

The way she weaved real-life scenes into her films were simply marvelous! She gave us the talented Amani and Shafie (the boy who played Mokhsin), and of course, Adibah, and whatever things they say about her, for me, she's a plain genius!
